Measurement Breakdown
📏 A. Head Circumference
- Measure around your dog’s head, just in front of the ears.
- This helps ensure the coat can comfortably go over the head if needed.
- Not always required, but helpful for snug-fitting styles.
📏 B. Neck Circumference
- Measure around the base of the neck where a collar naturally sits.
- Keep the tape snug but not tight.
- You should be able to fit two fingers under the tape.
📏 C. Back Length
- Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.
- Keep the tape straight along the spine.
- This determines how much coverage your dog will have. This is where you will indicate if you want the coat to be longer.
📏 D. Chest Circumference
- Measure around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
- Make sure the tape goes all the way around evenly.
- This is one of the key measurements for fit.
📏 E. Front Leg Length For Rompers & Jumpsuits
- Measure from the armpit down to the wrist.
- Useful for coats or sweaters with sleeves.
📏 F. Back Leg Length - For Rompers & Jumpsuits
- Measure from the hip down to the hock (the back “ankle”).
- Helpful for full-coverage styles or rompers.
🐾 Measuring Tips
- Use a soft measuring tape
- Measure while your dog is standing
- Do not pull the tape too tight
- Use your dog’s exact measurements. No adjustments needed. Fit allowances are built into the pattern during drafting
- Be patient and take your time. Reward your dog with praise and treats.

Questions about measuring?
Every dog responds differently to clothing. That’s why each piece is designed with comfort, flexibility, and ease of movement in mind. Many dogs who are initially unsure become more comfortable with a proper fit and soft materials. Taking it slow, using positive reinforcement, and allowing your dog time to adjust can make a big difference.
Some dogs take to it right away, while others need a little time and that’s completely normal.
A custom fit can help, but it won’t completely prevent soiling.
Some male dogs will still soil their front legs no matter what they’re wearing. I can adjust the front panel to improve clearance, which may help reduce it, but it isn’t something that can be fully eliminated through clothing alone.
Yes. I can fit most dogs, not just sighthounds.
While many designs are developed with sighthounds in mind, I also create custom patterns for other breeds. Each dog’s shape is different, so adjustments are made based on their proportions, movement, and overall build.
Some designs were originally developed for small breeds like Chihuahuas, while others can be adapted for larger dogs with additional information such as breed, weight, and measurements.

Each piece is made from the measurements provided, and I take great care in drafting patterns for comfort and fit. If an adjustment is needed due to an error on my end, I will gladly alter or remake the garment one time.

Measurements are required before your order can begin. Please provide them within 72 hours of purchase. If measurements aren’t received within that time, the order will be cancelled and refunded. You’re always welcome to reorder when you’re ready.

Cancellations are accepted within 24 hours of purchase. Once work has begun on a custom piece, cancellations are no longer possible.
Orders are worked on in the order they are received. During busy times, especially around holidays, there may be a wait as I move through each order carefully.
